Frequently Asked Questions
There are a few things which effect the time, complexity and therefore cost of replacing or repairing a tap
The Type Of Tap
The type of tap in a number of ways will effect the cost. For example a kitchen tap is a lot simpler to change than a bath tap, this is normally down to access and also how long it's been installed. If the tap is coming out of the wall, (not surface mounted) this also makes a big difference.
The Access To The Tap
Access to the tap is critical for changing the fitting. Sometimes you will see a bath tap fitted on the back wall of a bath not at either end, this can mean completely removing the bath to be able to access the tap. Also wall mounted taps, can mean making access to replace them taking more time and potentially damage.
Isolation Points
In order to replace the tap, an engineer will need to turn off the water supply. If you not not have a local isolation point or your stop cock is not operating. You will need to have this rectified prior, meaning more time and costs. Sometimes they can use freeze kits which will be slightly more too, but this is not a long term solution for any future leaks or taps replacements.
Quality Of Existing Installation
Time can also increase if the existing installation or connections are not good. The engineer may have to change some pipework or fittings to make this better. In kitchen tap installations work tops that are deteriorated can also mean more time and cost, as the engineer can struggle to get a good fixing.
If Ry supplies your tap for you, simply give us a call and we can contact our suppliers who will inform the manufacturers of the date purchased to prove its under warranty and arrange a replacement.
If its a tap you supplied contact your supplier and advise them of your purchase date and fault.
If it's an installation problem, within 12 months i.e there's a leak on a connection subject to our T&C's which can be found below Ry will re-attend free of charge to rectify this.

When choosing a tap there are a couple of things to consider
- Some taps are made for low or high pressure systems, and some can be fitted on both. So either go for one that can be fitted on both, or if you have low pressure or high pressure pick a relevant tap.
- How many tap holes do you currently have? If you have a kitchen tap with x2 connection holes make sure you get the same again, or if its a mono mixer (one hole) get the same again.
- Depth - sometimes with bath taps if you have a very tight space you are limited to the depth of the tap holes - so measure the existing depth and go for something similar.
- The final one is just on aesthetics so what colour do you want, what price range etc. Bare in mind un branded taps will be harder to repair in future as spares can be hard to find.
